After a great day of skiing thereβs nothing more relaxing than sitting down to enjoy good food, drinks and music. Beech Mountain provides all of this at the Mountain Brewing Co. Taproom and Grill at the ski resort, which is open to all ages. An event scheduled for next week, on January 21, features the musical talents of the Soulamanders!
The Soulamanders are a musical duo, Levi Trent and Derek McKnight. The two musicians grew up in Southwest Virginia and their music is influenced by folk, reggae and Americana genres.

This past week I drove through a town I had always wondered about but had never visited. Todd, NC is located about 15 minutes from one of our cabins, Tanglewood. I am certainly going to visit again in the warmer summer months.
Why? Todd runs along the South Branch of the New River. So, it would be a fantastic place for a lazy ride down the river in an inner tube. Or maybe I’ll even try kayaking.
Do those activities sound like fun? Since Tanglewood is only 15 minutes away it would be a great place to stay and explore Todd. Also worth exploring is another town which is going to be my next adventure, West Jefferson.
New Simplified Booking Platform on our New Website
Welcome to our new website. The URL has remained the same but the entire look has changed. Our new website will make it easier for our guests to book their next vacation with Kradel’s Kabins! You can now book directly from the home page. No need to navigate to another page. In addition, there are less tabs to navigate. All the information you need about each cabin is available at a glance. And you can still view our blog posts by going to the News and Events tab. We are excited about our new simplified booking platform and I’m sure you’ll agree planning your next vacation will be easier. Also, we are working on a new page that will allow our guests to add services or gift items that will be ready once they arrive. Other than the slopes themselves, one of the most important facets of a trip up the mountain is the amenities there. And on Beech Mountain, the most popular amenity is Beech Mountain Brewing Co.
Located in the Beech Mountain Resort village, the brewery is open to all visitors, not just those staying at the resort. It is a bi-level facility with a fireplace and hardwood floors throughout. On Friday through Sunday, you can try the latest creation that the brewery has cooked up.
Every Friday is a different live music performance. Coming up on January 3rd at 6:00 pm is A Welcome Distraction.
There is also a variety of food to eat at the brewery. For instance they have fried green tomatoes, chips and salsa, chicken wings, quesadillas, hamburgers, and more.
There’s more to do on Grandfather Mountain than hike the trails. One of the most enjoyable activities on Grandfather Mountain is visiting the environmental habitats. Environmental habitats are large enclosures built around the natural habitat which enable visitors to view animals in natural settings.Β
One of the most impressive animals found in one of the habitats, and all throughout the mountain, are black bears.
Black bears are the smallest, and most common bears in North America. They have better sight and hearing than humans. And their sense of smell is seven times greater than that of a dog.
Their diet primarily consists of various kinds of vegetation. Their animal diet normally consists of Β insects such as birds and ants. They do in fact like to eat honey. On the pacific coast where salmon are abundant, they will fish for them at night as the salmon are able to see them otherwise.
Enjoyably onΒ Grandfather Mountain, there is a wildlife habitat just for Black Bears so you can view them safely in their natural environment.Β So next time you’re visiting Grandfather Mountain take some time to visit the bear habitat!
